Soo.. Kelli and Mike are two people so, so dear to my heart. I met them both at UNC for undergrad, and Kelli quickly became one of my closest friends.. with me getting to know Mike as well over many many intense games of Taboo. The two of them compliment each other perfectly, with Mike’s quick comebacks and sarcasm paired perfectly with Kelli’s huge heart. When he proposed at Frankie’s fun park in Raleigh, I knew I wanted to take some photos of them there. We did the rest on campus at UNC – where their love first bloomed! I can’t wait to be a part of your wedding (in the bridal party!! thank you, again!), which I know is going to be filled with plenty of laughs and tears!! (Between me and Kelli .. I can’t imagine)… xoxo love you both!
Ooooh I am just tickled to share these pictures of Courtney & Matthew’s engagement session! I’ve known Courtney since college, having taken her graduation photos what now seems like forever ago… when she started talking to me about the handsome Matthew, a part of me started counting down until they got engaged! When they did, I was so touched to be the one to get the photo call! Because these two are always going on some fabulous vacation, when we tried to think of somewhere meaningful in the triangle for pics, we were at a loss. Hours before we were scheduled to shoot in downtown Raleigh, we thought about the airport, and voila! Magic was made. We got the most perfect sunset to compliment the shoot, too! Congratulations to these hotties!! Seriously wait for your wedding next year!
When Katie & Jess wanted to start branding their new studio, VIllage Yoga, we wanted to shy away from the clichéd yoga pictures you often see. We headed to one of my favorite places, Jockey’s Ridge, and these ladies impressed me with their skills! With a super blue sky and awesome sunset, the images truly turned out even better than we could have planned. After months of planning, their beautiful studio just opened in Duck, NC, in the Scarborough Faire shopping center this past weekend! Check out http://www.duckvillageyoga.com/ for more class schedules and pricing! They offer all levels if you’re a beginner, and even offer a donation-based class taught by one of my best friends, Michele, if you want to try something for the low! SO proud of all you ladies! Namaste!
* If any businesses are interested in creating an image for their brand, I’d love to help! e-mail me at laurencowartphoto@gmail for more information.
It’s always exciting when two people you know and love.. fall in love.. and ever since I heard Casey & Kyle’s engagement story (he flew out to California to propose), I had been excited to do their pics! Casey & Kyle are so loved on the Outer Banks, and their shoot was a gift from the lovely Mo Ashworth of Hurricane Mo’s (if you’re ever in Kitty Hawk, come try that crab dip!). We went around to Snowbird, played soccer, and even took pics with their pup, Bruce. While it was FREEZING cold, we managed to capture a little spring/summer OBX feel. Congrats!!
How cute are Kayla and Pat? I always love taking photos of a fellow photographer, even though it can be totally intimidating. Kayla is like me in that she doesn’t necessarily like being in front of the camera, but I couldn’t figure out why not! I told her after our shoot that I was going to get colored contacts because I was so jealous of her BRIGHT BLUE (even sans photoshop) eyes! I can’t wait to take pics of Kayla and Pat on their wedding day… they are going to be HOT! I won’t hold the fact that Pat is a huge Duke fan against y’all.. promise. Congrats to you two!!
Gosh, I love when I get super easygoing clients like Nicole! After taking her graduation photos last year (they turned out GREAT), I knew when she contacted me about engagement photos that we were both in for a treat! Her carefree interaction with her fiance Tyler and constant beaming from ear to ear made it one of the most simple shoots I’ve done. See for yourself! We had some fun on the beach (we’re both from the Outer Banks), but also incorporated some of their interests — they always keep Cheerwine in their fridge, and they met in Pharmacy school! Congrats to these two!
To celebrate a good friend’s 25th birthday, I was lucky enough to be a part of a quick trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico earlier this year. WOW did I fall in love. While our time was limited, I was able to see so much of the area’s culture. We visited the Bacardi Rum factory, frolicked throughout Old San Juan, and ate lots of delicious traditional grub. I seriously cannot wait to go back!
When word got out in the UNC photojournalism department that THE Justin Cook and THE Courtney Potter were a hot item, they instantly became the hottest photo-taking Tar Heels around. So when these two camera-wielding demigods decided to join forces, it was like the photo world exploded!! In all seriousness, I spent my entire photo career at UNC looking up to Justin’s work, with Courtney by my side as the most impressive photographer in my class. Seriously. They both are incredible. (Check out their web sites!) When they asked me to be their wedding photographer, I could not have been more honored or flattered. They are the silliest people I’ve ever met, and they fit together so perfectly. I’m so happy to be a part of this extraordinary PHOTO Love!!

I can’t even express how excited I am for my friend Charity and her man, Maurice!! Charity has always told me when the time came around, she would be calling me for wedding photos. My friends and I were introduced to Maurice at Homecoming last year, and we all saw a little sparkle in Charity’s eye… by the next year, they were engaged!! I’m so excited about their wedding later this year, and am delighted to share their engagement pics! Congrats you guys!!
